Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Social justice in our community is a topic that we will be exploring in our school this year. We have been tasked to bring this subject into all curricular areas. We are exploring a unit on transportation and how different communities around the world reinvent and use transportation to meet their needs. Our students are tactile learners, and we strive to make each day a learning opportunity despite economic obstacles that often cause us to modify projects and lessons. My students deserve the opportunity to have their learning experience be as rich as possible, without limitations. This is my goal.

Students will be able to build their own LEGO transportation system and discover how it connects people, meets community needs, and keeps the world moving!

While building the LEGO ships, students will research what needs can be met when communities do not have railway or airway systems to get commodities they need. Students will be able to research how needs and wants are supplied as they build their airplanes. Students will even look at how buses are used as major transportation vehicles in certain parts of the world. by combining researching with engineering, specifically building, students will be engaged thus increasing engagement and conceptualization.
