My Students

I am very fortunate to teach the students of this community. They are motivated, inquisitive, and really enjoy collaborating when given a project. Over the past year, parents have generously donated towards my vision of introducing STEM-based chemistry and biology labs involving amazing technology that is used to gather data.

The community in which I teach is very supportive of science education and hands-on learning.

Having the tools and resources available for their children to conduct meaningful labs provides them a quality science experience which the parents appreciate.

My Project

This year I am blessed with amazing students that show a lot of interest in chemistry. They have performed a few amazing labs, such as decomposing baking soda in order to determine the production of CO2 and lately they have been using high tech STEM equipment. This last week all of my students have used the Vernier Lab Quests to analyze and graph the changes in pressure as it related to temperature and volume changes. A lot of enthusiasm filled the room as your children used special pressure sensors and temperature probes to collect the data. All the students had such a great time with the STEM based chemistry labs and I would definitely like to continue this type of love for science. I am planning on using more tech equipment for upcoming thermochemistry and titration activities but I need a few more items to make this happen. I would like to use the stir station, drop counter, pH storage solution and microstirrers for the acid base titration. These items are needed for students to perform the investigations. Also, a couple chemicals, such as the magnesium oxide, would help make the thermochemistry lab a little more interesting! I am planning on having many STEM based chemistry activities that would make the students super excited about science. Please help me make that happen!
