This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The use of STEM materials is a biweekly activity in my classroom, especially in science class! Using these materials can get quite messy and take up a lot of space that could be otherwise be used to showcase student work. This storage cabinet will allow me to organize exactly what students need for building materials and tools, freeing classroom space for presentations of inventions to show and share their work! What becomes a problem is the fact that materials do not have a place of their own, get mixed up, or go missing for a time. When materials are not readily accessible this delays student learning and discourages building. Even though they are great about handling tools and materials, it is time consuming to find missing materials or sort mismatched items; time that should be spent building and learning. For many of my students who have focusing and organizational issues, they miss important teamwork time. By having one main place for STEM materials and tools, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning!

By donating to our project, you will not only help students engage fully in STEM experiences but will also improve and increase student attention and focus, streamlining our classroom, and ensuring academic achievement.

Students will be able to quickly focus on the STEM challenges and get to planning and building right away. Plus in this STEM-forward world, all experience with using materials will increase their creativity and confidence as well as their desire to learn and create new inventions that solve real world problems!
