My Students

My students are amazing! They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends. Together we imagine new possibilities for our community, our country and the world.

At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 92% of the students are students of color.

My students have come from many different parts of the world including Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Ethiopia, Somalia and the United States. The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language.

My students are the engineers, pilots, dentists, poets and architects of the future. These students have the capacity to achieve greatness.

My Project

My students are incredibly curious and creative 4th graders. I see them engaged in critical thinking and problem solving. By having access to a variety of engineering-focused activities, my students will develop their creativity and critical thinking skills.

"You can't use up creativity; the more you use, the more you have"-- Maya Angelou.

The activities in this project include robots my students can code with including Dash and Dot, hexbugs and Plus Plus building blocks (which are so useful for students who need to fidget). I've also included some LEGO eye glasses, which my students can use to create and show their identities. With these activities and the robot-themed books I included, we will continue to develop our scientific minds and build a stronger classroom community. It is an exciting prospect!

My students have so much passion for learning and for creating--we need more opportunities to expand our perspectives and our creativity. These activities, games and books will stretch their imaginations and their critical thinking skills. Help us engineer great brain power! Thank you for considering donating to our project!
