My PreK students are four and five-year-olds who come from high poverty or English as a second language homes. These students attend a public school in an urban area of Texas.
For most of my students, my classroom is their first school experience and they come with such an excitement for learning and trying new things, like working puzzles, listening to a book, or painting.
I am privileged to watch them grow and develop skills in such a hands-on environment!
My Project
Teaching STEM activities requires a variety of materials for building and creating. The batteries must be replenished as students utilize the technology in our classroom. The sharpies are used to create graphs and pictures of their work.
Teaching my Pre-K students with STEM strategies is preparing them for a future of collaborating, communicating, and using creative and creative thinking.
The elephants will be used for building activity. Can they build a sturdy bridge that will hold up elephants? This activity ties into a book that we will read about real elephants that crossed a bridge, and help us make connections with real-life situations and ways they can make a difference in our world.
