My Project

I am a middle school math/science teacher at a neighborhood K-8 elementary school in North Philadelphia. I will be working with 6th-grade students. As with most schools, my students are on multiple academic levels, and my job is to teach them new material while reminding them about past material that they learned. I teach at a Title I school.

My students are creative, kind, funny, and driven.

They want to understand the material. The new curriculum that we are using is a challenge for them to understand. I want to give them all the necessary resources to understand everything I need to teach and be prepared. I want to allow them to expand their horizons in all areas of life.

These materials will enhance their math and science learning and will greatly help them grasp the concepts of the lessons. Many students are visual learners, and the colorful media will play a major role in their STEM education. Students will create cell models, planetary diagrams, and illustrative projects such as the weather and water systems to understand earth science. These materials will also make math learning more interesting by allowing students to create their own diagrams of polygons, explaining surface area and ratios, etc.
