Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My favorite quote is, "It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge" ~ Albert Einstein. This quote illustrates exactly what happens in the STEM lab at our school. You can actually see the curiosity and sense of wonder in the children's eyes!

The students at my school mainly come from immigrant families.

We also have second generation immigrant families (grandparents immigrated). Our students have a love for learning and want to know more about the world around them. For most, it is the first time they are experiencing what school is like in the United States.

My Project

With the resources provided with this grant, our STEM lab will come to life! Students will be junior scientists, learning all about the scientific method through hands-on inquiry. When my students come to the lab, I can guarantee they will not want to leave. With the supplies I am asking for; such as magnets, graduated cylinders, and microscopes, my students will be able to have concrete experiences that will allow them to deepen their understanding.

This project will make a huge impact on the students at my school.

They will have the chance to truly experience project based learning with tools that scientists use. The students will be able to make real world connections by being able to use tools that they might only get to see in pictures. This project will make their science dreams come true!
