Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every winter, my students partner up to complete a gingerbread house hands-on S.T.E.A.M. project challenge. This year should be no different. This hands-on project will allow me the opportunity to provide each pair of students with the necessary materials to complete the challenge. Gingerbread house building is a perfect way for my students to be able to collaborate, create, build, design, and problem-solve while having fun working. My students really enjoy taking their structures home, explaining the process to their families, and then taking them apart by eating all of the decorations.

This gingerbread house project always brings so much joy to my students and I really enjoy observing their creative minds at work.

Please help my students with these necessary materials, such as graham crackers and candies, so that they may be able to collaborate, design, and build their gingerbread houses. I've also added Santa hats to get us in the spirit of Christmas and baskets to keep our STEM items organized! The printer ink will be used to print colored pictures of the process and display them in our classrooms since the "gingerbread houses" will be eaten after the project is complete!
