My Project

My students at our rural Title I high school are resilient, curious, and determined despite facing significant socioeconomic challenges. What makes them special is their hunger for knowledge and technology skills despite limited resources at home. Many are first-generation college hopefuls who see STEM education as their pathway to a brighter future. Currently, our library has no dedicated desktop computer for student use. This desktop computer and monitor will transform our library into a true STEM hub by providing:

A platform for STEAM educational software that develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Access to specialized coding software that only runs on desktops, not on their school-issued Chromebooks.

A larger screen benefits students with vision challenges when viewing scientific diagrams and data.

A dedicated print station for research projects and homework.

A secure station for our Destiny catalog system where students can independently locate and check out resources.

My goals for this project are to increase student technology proficiency, create independent library users, and most importantly, bridge the digital divide for our rural students. The permanent desktop workstation will ensure all students have equal access to essential digital tools that prepare them for college and careers in our technology-driven world.
