My Students

I am an elementary school, lower grade science teacher for K- 2nd grade. My students are very special people, who come to school with smiling faces ready to learn. They get so excited every week about coming to science class. My students come from many different backgrounds. Most families are from low-income households. The school is a Title I school which qualifies all of them for free breakfast and lunch. Most of them are recent immigrants and are English language learners. I try to give them many hands-on, real-life experiences during science class. This year has been very different kind of learning. Now that it’s April, we have more students coming back to hybrid learning.

My Project

These STEM kits will give my students an opportunity to be creative, learn problem solving and team work all at the same time. They will promote challenges for my students to solve while working in groups. My students do not have many opportunities or experiences outside the classroom. I would love to be able to give them as much hands on experiences in my science room as possible.

Engineering and problem solving has become a huge focus on elementary learning.

Students need to learn problem solving skills to help get them ready for the real world. These kits will fill my science classroom with STEM activities my students will be excited about. It will be great to have enough materials for the whole class to share at the same time.
