My Students

There is never a dull day with the funny, creative individuals I have the pleasure of teaching. I work with 18-21 year old students with cognitive disabilities. We work to develop the life skills they need as they transition to adulthood.

All of my students have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that address their broad range of academic, communication, social and functional needs.

My students come from a wide variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. One common thread is their enthusiasm to show up every day eager to take on new challenges.

My Project

With another new year comes another set of unique needs. In order to limit student exposure, I will be traveling to different classrooms in our building to teach functional math skills.

I will use these games and materials to teach a wide range of learners.

Having multiple, easily transportable resources such as games like Tiny Polka Dot and magnetic tangrams will allow me to teach math skills on the go as I move from room to room.

My students are fortunate to have access to iPads with many great math apps. Headphones will enable students to be able to focus as they engage with these programs.
