This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My honors chemistry classroom is an environment that promotes hands-on learning and discovery learning. I encourage my students to challenge themselves academically every day. The student population is predominantly girls, and our setting is in a Title I school.

I am trying to encourage them to look into the stem fields.

When ever possible, I try to incorporate technology and engineering ideas in my lesson plans. We have a hard time with this because we only have 5 Chromebooks that can be unreliable. Lets provide the tools for these ladies to become our future scientists and engineers!

My Project

This addition of 8 tablets will allow me to flawlessly incorporate more technology based learning in my classroom. pHET offers many simulations for students to learn chemistry, but due to the lack of computers I have not been able to incorporate it in my classroom.

I want to spark innovative thinking in my girls.

I want them to explore scientific concepts in different ways. I don't want my students to feel limited in my classroom. With these laptops, I will be able to use simulations for my student to explore the "what if's" in chemistry. I will incorporate alternative ways to assess my students' learning. I will be able to share tutorial videos and assign advancing activities that incorporate simulations and videos to enhance learning.
