This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Science and math should be learned in a hands-on way! To make the learning more meaningful and interesting, we want to use STEM thinking and materials to help our students learn and succeed in school and in the future.

My students are eager to learn.

However, they come from very low-income homes and do not have a lot of opportunities in their home life. I want to ensure that they have all of the same opportunities that other kids have. Our school also does not have a PTA so it is often difficult to get funding for materials. Our grade level is looking to become a STEM focused grade level this year. We will be doing a lot of problem based learning and group projects- incorporating all subject areas.

My Project

These science and math materials will be extremely helpful in teaching our math and science concepts. The books will be great to use to integrate nonfiction reading with science. The station activities for math and science will be very helpful in reinforcing concepts they are learning in class. The manipulatives will be used to introduce concepts and practice them throughout the year. All of these items will be used during our problem based STEM activities.

We need giving people, like you, in order to have things to use in class to make learning more interesting and exciting. My students will be learning and growing throughout the whole year by using all of these items. We appreciate you!
