My Students

My students attend a small school in West Virginia. We are a Title 1 school and located in a low socioeconomic town. Our students walk through the door every day eager to learn and willing to embrace new experiences.

Technology has become a focus of our school, with the hope of opening a world of opportunities for our students.

Many come from broken homes and the drug epidemic is high in our area, but our students are continually trying to rise above. They are filled with passion and hope. Our motto is to believe in ourselves, and with that belief, anything is possible.

Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Our staff and our students work hard to make that a reality.

My Project

My students are always eager to learn, but it is difficult to develop critical thinking skills. Coding is becoming a necessary skill in the world they are growing up in and STEM education plays a key role in developing these skills. The Dash Robot STEM kits can help my students develop these necessary skills.

STEM education has a lasting impact on my students by providing an engaging environment to explore key science and math concepts through coding.

We will use the Dash Robots and the accompanying Apps to learn how to code and why coding is important.

Students will be able to use the task cards and accessories to take coding to a new level. These robots will be used during weekly STEM time and center time. They will be able to engage in STEM activities that will have real wold applications. Students will also be able to use the robots in math and reading activities to help make learning more tangible.
