My Project

This innovative Design Kit and curriculum will bring STEM into our Child Development program, immersing students in the art and science of creating child care centers. Drawing on the latest theories in education and child development, this interactive kit will help students explore how physical layout impacts children’s learning and development—from infancy through preschool.

Through structured, hands-on activities, students in our Child Development 1, 2, 3, and 4 classes will practice designing and setting up early childhood environments.

They’ll gain real-world skills in budgeting, cost analysis, spatial design, and resource allocation—all essential for managing a successful child care center. This project culminates in students applying what they’ve learned by individually designing their own child care centers following our six-week on-site preschool, where they’ll see these principles in action.

This experience prepares students for future careers in early childhood education, empowering them with the STEM-based skills needed to create effective, nurturing learning environments. By supporting this project, you are providing essential tools and resources for students to become thoughtful, skilled, child care professionals.
