Having a classroom rug and flexible seating plays such an important role in the elementary classroom. To begin, a classroom rug is the main focal point when walking into my classroom. This rug will be an inviting space for my students to use while learning during whole group instruction, conducting morning meetings, or to use during independent work time. Next, flexible seating allows students to have ownership of their learning and make choices that work best for them while they are at school. Over the years, I have noticed substantial differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating as opposed to sitting in a desk all day. The students stay focused on completing work better and are engaged in their learning.
By having a classroom rug and flexible seating options, my students are more engaged in their work and less disruptive towards their peers when they are comfortable in their learning environment by having choices of where to sit.
These products that I have selected for my classroom will help my students by giving them additional seating options to use on a daily basis. The colorful comfy floor seats are lightweight and portable so students can move around easily with them. The bright classroom rug will create a gathering space where students come together to share, learn and work together.
Finally, the STEM activities I have selected will engage learners during science block, independent exploration time, or during inside recess time in the winter.
