My Project

This is the first year for the STEM Lab and our Makerspace at our small rural PK-12 school district. My students have begun to learn and embrace the Engineering Design Process, which means iterative cycles of prototyping. We began this academic year learning about 3D Computer Aided Design using the TinkerCad and Fusion 360 online programs, and have gotten a great start in our quest to create. My older students have also begun to mentor younger students at our elementary school, which has created a greater demand on our 3D printers and materials.

The funding of the STEM 3D Printer Innovators project will help me replenish the costly 3D printer filament needed for student assignments in the STEM classroom and creative collaborations in our makerspace.

This additional material will allow us to extend the STEM 3D print projects to our elementary students to a greater extent. Using 3D design helps foster classroom creativity and innovation, and my students will be so excited for these new materials!
