My Project

I created this project because I want my Steinway Artists to experience painting on a canvas just like professional artists do. I was inspired by last year's 5th grade graduates who loved their painting sessions in class and knew that I needed to make this event a yearly opportunity for all future graduates. Painting on a canvas can be a fun and exciting activity for young artists that can help them develop in many ways. Painting on canvas can help artists engage their imagination and explore their creativity. Children who feel successful at painting can gain confidence and self-esteem too, which can motivate them to try new things.

Painting on a canvas can help children develop cognitive, fine motor skills and help with hand-eye coordination.

Painting with a brush or small tool can help develop fine motor skills, while working on a large surface can help develop gross motor skills and develop hand-eye coordination. Art is a powerful way for your child to express their feelings and can also be used as a calming strategy for regulation as well. Research has shown that engaging in art enhances brain function and nurtures social-emotional skills. So bottom line, art is more than just fun, it is learning!

Therefore, for this project to come to life, we would need your help with the funding of a few canvases and paint (as we already have easels and paint brushes funded from previous years.)

Please support our 5th grade graduating artists with a small donation toward their culminating art experience. We can not wait to begin our canvas painting experience!
