My Project

I am a special education teacher in NY. My school is an Early Childhood Center that ranges from Pre-K to Grade 2. We have a large population of English language learners. The staff at our school pride ourselves on creating a love of learning in young children so they may carry it with them throughout their lives.

The students in my class have been diagnosed with disabilities such as speech and language disorders, learning disabilities, and delays in motor skills.

They have several different learning styles, and it is often a challenge to meet the specific needs of each and every child.

I am requesting various materials, such as wooden blocks and LEGOs, that we can use in our STEAM center. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Skills in these areas are so important in the life of a young learner and I'd love to provide my students with an opportunity to improve their skills in a fun and exciting way. These activities will allow my students to work together during center time. They will also be able to present to the class how they solved problems and brought their ideas to life. This will increase their confidence in all areas of our classroom, which will lead to higher self-esteem in school and throughout their daily lives!
