My Students

My students are really special to me! They come from a variety of backgrounds and I have built the most amazing relationships with my students.

I know my students learning style and that learning by doing is essential for them because it is so highly motivating.

Unfortunately, most of the enriching experiences my students encounter are within the school walls because my students live in high poverty situations.

My students deserve to learn in the best way possible and that is by making real world connections!

My Project

My students love being able to connect their learning beyond the four walls of the classroom. When they are engaged in meaningful learning experiences, they are so much more eager to learn. When learning about ecology, my students seem to lose interest in the topic of invasive species.

In order for my students to grasp an understanding of our local invasive species, they will create a news broadcast that will inform our entire community of our invasive species and how they can do their part in helping the local ecosystem.

We currently do not have any way to film, record, or create a news broadcast. The ipads will be used for filming and the green screens will be used to change out the backgrounds. I would love to have the technology so that my students can be actively engaged in a real world problem while still learning our standards. Not only will my students be learning all about invasive species, but they will also be able to learn all about broadcasting and the technology that is used to create a broadcast.
