My Project

My students will be in kindergarten through fifth grade and differ in ability levels. They are deeply curious learners from various cultural backgrounds within a very strong community. They need the utmost support as they are all learning at different paces, on different grade-levels, and with vast learning and behavioral needs. They live in a very low-socioeconomic neighborhood in Harlem, New York and receive free breakfast, lunch, and after-school snacks. To accommodate their academic, social emotional, sensory, and daily living needs, we need your help!

The supplies I am asking for are geared toward daily necessities that we need and include snacks and LEGO bricks!

These items will allow my students to be eager, engaged, and ready to participate in our special education support sessions. Since our school is a Title I school, my students get breakfast and lunch provided to them for free, but I like to supplement their hunger throughout the day with snacks when they come to my room.

I have recently noticed that all of the students I work with (regardless of age and ability level) absolutely love Legos. I have an old set of similar connecting blocks, but I want them to have the opportunity to play with real Legos where we can use them for math and reading fluency activities. The Legos also allow them to have time to work on social skills by providing an opportunity for students to play together in a less structured environment than they are used to.
