Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend school in a multi-million dollar home neighborhood. Unfortunately, my students are not as privileged as the children of this neighborhood. The majority of them live in bad condition apartment complexes that are filled with crime and uncertainty. I teach at a Title I school where 94.2% are classified as economically disadvantaged, 53.4% of students are English Language Learners, and 75% are at-risk.

My 3rd grade students deserve to have every opportunity this world has to offer.

However, many of them are forced to face challenges and obstacles that can sometimes hold them back from reaching their dreams. Please assist me to help my students reach their fullest potential.

My Project

This year will be our school's first year as a STEAM Magnet School. Our focus will be based around Project-Based Learning and the Engineering Process. My students will benefit from having iPads with cases in the classroom as we create a blended learning atmosphere. The iPads will help students do research as they learn the they can make a difference in the world if they are informed, and that they can share what they learned with others to raise awareness about world issues.

The main goals for using the iPads will be to promote critical-thinking, creativity, and collaboration.

In addition students will use the iPads in math workstations to review what they have learned. Students will do this by using math apps that will allow differentiation.
