Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a high poverty and ethnically diverse school district, my students are faced with many challenges. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn. They love to build and create and will appreciate the new materials. My students are full of life, ready and excited to learn. I believe in them and I want them to believe they can do anything.

STEAM, which builds critical thinking, problem solving, cooperative learning and teamwork, provides them with creative and meaningful learning experiences, all while focusing on their potential, and having fun!

I hope to inspire my early learners to continue on a path of academic excellence. They are our future and I work to give them a great start on their educational journey.

My Project

My students will explore how to make simple gears work horizontally and vertically and on a magnetic board. They will investigate and experiment making a chain reaction and then rebuild it again, completely differently, encouraging "thinking outside the box" and realizing there are many possibilities in solving problems and creating.

Planning together or individually, building and creating utilizing different materials and tools will be exciting and rewarding for my four and five year old students.

Through the geometric building students learn to build, identify and describe geometric shapes. This develops skills in geometry, recognizing and building geometric shapes, understanding that different shapes share attributes, classifying 2-D figures, real-world problems, and problem solving.
