My Students

Bright, excited, and very tech savvy - this is how I would describe my Project Lead the Way students this year! They are an awesome bunch; ready to take on all the exciting challenges of our Project Based Learning STEAM school.

Our school serves students in grades 6-8; we strive to instill Respect, Empathy, Ambition, and Leadership in all of our students on a daily basis.

Approximately 90% of our students participate in the free/reduced price lunch program and, outside of my classroom, may not have the resources or opportunity to be a part of robotics and engineering centered activities.

My Project

Adding STEAM materials such as magnetic tiles, marble runs, and Brain Flakes building materials will help foster a cooperative and tolerant environment where everyone participates.

Several students who are part of our alternate curriculum class are included in one of my robotics class periods and they work right alongside our traditional students.

This class is extremely unique in that all of the students work together to complete some pretty challenging robotics projects; it really is amazing to witness! Just about each day, we spend part of the time building community through various team building exercises, most of which are verbal. I would like to add more activities to our team building structure by giving them the opportunity to create with magnetic tiles, marble runs, and Brain Flakes. I know all of my students will benefit from the additional opportunities to work together while engaging in a STEAM activity that promotes togetherness!
