My Students

I teach third grade at a small town, Title One school. I have a variety of students in my class. They love to have fun while learning.

I constantly get asked, "What fun thing are we doing today, Mrs. Hinson?"

I love hearing them say they love school and they think it is fun! In today's society, the children do not do well just sitting and listening to a lecture. They thrive with hands-on activities and group work. Whenever we do group activities, my students get really excited!

My Project

I am asking for items to add to our STEAM cart. Items such as Legos, magnetic tiles and Lego boards. These items will allow the kids to have free play while building and constructing new ideas. They will be able to collaborate with groups to build different structures. I know the kids will be excited to be able to come into school and use the cart as opposed to beginning work immediately. Free play is such an important aspect to the classroom in all grades. They still need to work on their social skills and getting along, and the items will definitely help with that!
