My Project

My students are unique because they are the most eager class I have ever seen. They love learning and they love school. They are constantly asking for challenges and wanting to know more about the subject at hand. They are special because they seem to be picked just for me. We get along very well and enjoy laughing together. My students love mystery stories, math, and science. However, we struggle with STEAM as a whole; so, that is why I am requesting materials for STEAM bins such as Marble Maze game building toy, magnetic toys and building tiles.

COVID-19 has affected learning in a wide variety of ways.

My students were sent home in March of their Pre-K year. Their kindergarten year was spent with anxious teachers and parents trying to protect their children from the virus. 1st grade seems to be their first “normal” year of school, but COVID still heavily impacted their 1st grade year. I have noticed my students are more anxious and struggle to share. They were told not to share supplies in kindergarten due to COVID-19. They also sat next to the same students all day, and did not participate in many after school activities. Struggling to problem solve is a side-effect of their inability to share. I believe sharing is a skill they have not mastered due to COVID-19. I believe STEAM bins will aid them in learning to share and problem solve with students around them. The document camera will allow me to be involved in their STEAM building as well. I can discuss with them the different pieces of each bin and technology.
