Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The school that I work at serves a variety of students who come from multiple cultural and family backgrounds. Our PreK- 5th grade school has a diverse population. As a unique quality, our students get to experience an American Sign Language environment with our DHH (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) program.

The students at our school love to learn, and they love being able to come to a fun, safe, caring, and learning environment.

We have a wide variety of student needs at our school. We are a Title I school that has a very high mobility rate. They find comfort in the fact that school is one of the most constant aspects of some of their lives.

My students aspire to achieve the best despite any difficult circumstances they encounter along the way. They find joy in learning, and enjoy any provided learning opportunity.

My Project

These supplies requested will help my students learn math, language arts, arts, and coding with actual hands-on approaches! My students will be able to apply their learned skills from their books to actual hands on experiences! They can use the Osmo games to learn money skills, addition and subtraction, and enhanced word building. Dot and Dash will be used to support coding instruction, and games will be used to engage the students actively in their learning. In order to keep the materials safely stored, storage items have also been requested in this project so the items can be stored safely in the classroom.

With these materials the students will also get the opportunity to use enhanced thinking skills with the engaging learning games applying concepts of addition, subtraction, place value, multiplication, and division.

These games will not only utilize the student's critical thinking skills, but they will also encourage positive interactions both socially and academically!

This year, I have worked to implement a STEAM learning path in my classroom since technology engagement seems to be the path to the future! If students can effectively learn and interact with technology now, they will have a path set for a successful future!
