This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are truly exceptional! They work hard to succeed. They persevere when faced with a challenge, creatively inspire our community, and believe in one another. They are tomorrow's leaders and world-changers. They are our future and together we can help them reach their dreams. A full 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. They come to our Title I school every day where resources are very limited. Some of our students are unable to purchase supplies, and the school is only able to do so much with the budget they have. Our students strive to do their best!

My students are energetic, smart, and motivated to succeed.

Even though they come from a variety of backgrounds, including race, religion, academic levels, and family structure, we all work together to create a unique learning experience, instilling a love of learning and exploring that will last a lifetime. Many of my students' parents work multiple jobs and are unable to attend school events; therefore, parents are missing out on their students' successes. Teaching students about healthy eating and how to grow their own food is a life lesson that will last for years.

My Project

A Cricut Maker is an advanced cutting tool that allows the user to cut both pre-made and self-generated designs. Cricut Maker quickly and accurately cuts hundreds of materials, from the most delicate fabric and paper to the really tough stuff like matboard, card-stock, leather, and balsa wood.

STEAM is the blend of Science, Technology, Engineering, ART, and Mathematics.

With a Cricut Maker, my students will be able to design and engineer more projects than they can dream of. For example, they can design a Ferris wheel with Makey Makey, then use the Cricut Maker to cut it out of balsa wood and assemble it! This is a perfect correlation to the physics. With the engraving tool students will be able to add their own designs on the projecsts. They can also cut fabrics, which means our maker-sewing projects will be much less time-consuming. These projects (and more) will be run from our school iPads, with which the Cricut Maker is already compatible. We have the know-how and the technology; with the Cricut Maker, we will have the tools we need to create truly amazing projects!
