My Students

My students are gifted 1st graders and benefit from differentiated teaching. They are identified as above grade level in two or more areas, yet they are still young kids, navigating life through their five senses. They love a challenge and they are fully engaged when given the freedom to think creatively.

My Project

In first grade, students are growing in responsibility. I often ask them to stand behind their pushed in chairs and ask themselves, "Does my area look 'ready to learn’?"

I am confident that these 5 and 6 year olds can experience the joys of being organized and prepared for the day!

Organization and planning ahead are skills they can carry with them throughout their lives. We have tried seat sacks and they tend to become filled with loose papers and markers and other random stuff. Furthermore, these seat sacks have not held up as well as expected and need to be replaced.
