My Students

My students are a great group of kids. They are 9th graders with Autism and other developmental disabilities or special learning needs. They need more than a teacher who tells them what to do; they need an adult who will listen to them and work with them on their individual needs.

In the words of Temple Grandin, "Kids have to be exposed to different things to develop.

A child’s not going to find out he likes to play a musical instrument if you never exposed him to it."

My classroom assistant and I create a positive and interactive learning environment where our kids know that they are welcome, loved, appreciated, are safe, and can succeed.

My Project

This school year is a little different than most. We can't share materials or water fountains anymore. I'd love for my students to have water bottles so they have water readily available all the time.

Having water bottles all day will allow our students to stay hydrated and healthy.

Many of my students are unable to buy a water bottle of their own, or they use a disposable bottle over and over again. With this project, I hope to be able to give everybody a water bottle of their own.
