My Project

My students are from impoverished areas of the city riddled with crime. More than 98% of my students are from families who receive government assistance. Some students come to school/practice hungry, unclean, and self conscious.

Most students do not have money to buy drinks from the vending machines, so I purchase Gatorade for them for practice.

I continue to share everything that I bring to school with our athletes. In spite of their current living conditions, my students have a desire to gain knowledge to better their lives. Their determination to succeed is admirable.

Coach Mabry McKinley High School Grades 9-12
