This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
The items I am requesting are for snacks, hygiene, and keeping my students healthy and cared for. My goal is to help my students get a little extra help because we have to take care of the whole child, not just academics. My students do not take things for granted and are very hard-working. When students know they can come to your classroom and get not only an education, but other needs are met they learn more. Students want to know that their teachers care and by providing them with some extra help can go a long way.
The Kleenex is for the times that we are sick.
When allergy and flu season arrive, sometimes we go through boxes of facial tissue in a week. It can become very expensive. The sanitizer is to help keep germs at bay. I wanted my students to have some in their cubbies and enough to last at the door as we enter or leave the classroom. The water bottles are also for keeping germs at bay and making sure students are hydrated. The summer months are so hot and sometimes even in the winter months we do not realize we are not drinking enough water. It is hard for students to be able to drink enough water throughout the day and not miss part of their lesson. If my students have a water bottle they can stay hydrated and still be in the classroom,
The snacks are for students who come in late or just did not have enough to eat. Children cannot focus if they are hungry.
The lotion and the toothbrush are to maintain personal hygiene. The toothbrushes are fun and covered. Students' skin can get dry and need some type of moisturizer.
