Staying Connected During Distance Learning

My Students

My school, along with many others, closed March 13 due to COVID-19. We later found out that we would be distance learning for the remainder of the year. We are continuing to teach new material to students but distance learning comes with unique challenges. Currently I am teaching from my living room with just my laptop.

My Project

Switching to distance learning has been a challenge for both teachers and students. Many of us have been learning as we go, trying to find a solution that helps all students get the instruction they deserve. One thing has became very clear throughout this process: students learn much more when they have direct access to their teacher.

The music stand/tablet holder and microphone will allow me to record high quality videos to explain concepts to students that they can access whenever they need to with my iPad.

Right now I am limited to mostly email as a way to contact my students. This medium makes it very difficult to explain something to students when they are confused. I am also limited due to spotty wifi in my home. The wifi extender will allow me more freedom to post and interact with my students. It is my hope that these resources will allow me to stay connected with my students and help them continue to learn.
