Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach fantastic students at a Title I school on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. We love to learn through hands-on activities and authentic experiences in the classroom, especially during small group instruction. Almost 10% of our students are English language learners and 33% are students with disabilities. Almost half of our students stay in after-school until after 5 PM each day while their parents work.

Our school is truly a barrier free school, serving all students who come through our doors.

Helping students achieve their dreams is our goal. Our students are in need of essential resources and materials that will benefit them during instruction.

My Project

Our 2nd graders have so much to say, and even more to write! A fresh pencil makes a world of difference when encouraging students to write LONG and STRONG!

Our pencil sharpener is often overly used due to the amount of pencils sharpened every day.

Pencils are used in each subject area, and the wear and tear on pencil sharpeners often causes them to burn out, and stop working altogether.

Not having a working sharpener in the classroom at any time of the year is a big problem. It is essential for students to be able to independently get the materials they need throughout the day in designated centers. This allows for a seamless day, allowing for learning and maximizing time. Your donation will provide our students with sharpened pencils but also sharpened minds! Thank you!
