Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My young students are learning in an annex building without a playground for outdoor recess, no library, and insufficient technology. Yet, when they come to my classroom every year, they smile. Our class is diverse and beautiful. I strive to help families and students grow and learn in my classroom. I have a strong home-school connection with my families, which was so important during the COVID pandemic. I love teaching! I love my students and families!

I would love to provide parents with tool kits for their child at home.

Many of the families in our schools are struggling because of the pandemic. They are just starting to get back to work and back on their feet. It hasn't been easy for the families of our school. Our school provided technology for our students so that they could continue their education remotely. It wasn't easy for any of us but we made it through. We faced the challenges together. I love the school community that I work for and want to support them any way I can. Please help me make the 2020-2021 school year a great one! God bless you!

My Project

The materials I've chosen for my students will help them complete assignments at home. The materials will help parents with costs for school supplies since many parents were out of work for some time. Many students will be working remotely in the Fall. That is why I want to make tool kits for them to keep at home so they have everything they need to learn. Students can use the writing journal to create stories across genres, the snap word journal will give them the practice they need to master snap words for reading fluency, and the math journal will give them a journal for math problems. Also, the reading mat games will be fun for students to play in the class and virtually. I have a document camera at home, so students can play the games interactively in small groups or I can send it home for students to borrow. Students need games to play at home. I want to make the new school year an easy transition for my families. It has been very stressful these last five months.
