This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Despite living in the city's second densest neighborhood, my students come to school with smiles on their faces ready to get down to the business of creating, reading, writing, and problem solving.

My students are eager to learn and motivated to make the world a better place.

They are truly a special group that works collaboratively and independently to meet their academic and personal goals. They aren't scared of challenges and they know the meaning of "productive struggle." Watch out world!

My Project

Teachers like me are scrambling to think of ways we can help our students learn to read and write in this new remote learning situation. Most of my students do not have access to paper or writing journals at home but they still have their stories and their thoughts and their emotions!

Writing is such an amazing outlet to express all of this and I want to make sure that they have the tools to do so.

These journals will be a special place where all of my students can write and draw their stories. Having their writing in one place will also make it easier for me to give them feedback and monitor their growth as young writers.
