Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in a rural area of Fresno County in California. They are generally from a lower socioeconomic background and have not had the opportunity to have the experiences that others have had. Many of them are English language learners as well. It can be difficult to provide resources and other authentic experiences that can provide my students with more knowledge and background information.

Many of my students have limited experiences outside of the home or classroom.

We try to provide as much as we can here at school, so our students can have the same type of advantages and experiences as their counterparts in more economically advantaged areas.

My Project

Returning to school after nearly 18 months has been a challenge for many of my students. They have been indoors and have not been exposed to regular physical activities. New P.E. equipment will help motivate my students be active again and enjoy outdoor social activities. We are also in need of some basic school supplies such as crayons and pencil sharpeners. These materials will help me rebuild a classroom community and help my students feel comfortable in the classroom again. My students will benefit academically and socially from these materials.
