Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am so fortunate to teach a wonderful group of first-grade students. My students are kind, hard-working, curious, and resilient.

I teach at a Title 1 school in Spanish Harlem with students of diverse needs and backgrounds.

My students are learning phonics, reading, writing, math, social studies, science, as well as a social-emotional curriculum.

My Project

This project includes necessary materials for first-grade learners such as glue sticks, paper towels, a pencil sharpener, and play-doh. These materials allow for creative learning at the beginning of the year.

I also am asking for two texts that would allow me to enhance my knowledge of the science of reading.

This would help me grow stronger as a reading teacher to students who really need support, particularly after a year of remote learning. There are texts that go with it for the students as well. This approach to reading allows for students to make great progress by learning how to break down each word they come across.
