This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are caring, excited, and eager to learn. Our school is funded by Head Start and works with under-served families in Miami. My Pre-K students face a variety of difficult situations at home. They are in need of as much love and support as they can get as they prepare for Kindergarten.

My students come to class each day eager to learn and ready for new experiences that they may not get the opportunity to have outside of school.

They love to create art, build structures, and pretend play throughout the day. It is a joy to give them a variety of opportunities to learn something new. My students' time in the classroom creates a love of learning in each of them and a foundation for success as they continue in their education!

My Project

I am so excited to see my Pre-K students in person again, but because of the Covid-19 pandemic, preparation this school year will be like no other! The materials in this project will go to preparing our classroom for the return of in-person teaching and learning. Learning for our youngest students looks different than older students. My Pre-K students learn through play. These materials will help me to meet my students' needs by providing them with educational toys to enhance their learning. These table toys will teach students number and shape recognition, letter recognition, and social studies while allowing them to be creative and independent in their learning.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is imperative we have plenty of educational learning opportunities in the classroom that allow our students to social distance.

The various educational toys will allow us to provide students with options in the classroom without sharing so that they learn in a safe environment. The storage bins and teaching supplies will help me to have enough materials in the classroom to ensure students do not share and can maintain their own individual work spaces. My project is focused on preparing the classroom for the 2020-2021 school year in order to ensure my students have the opportunity to learn in a safe and fun environment!
