My Students

My classroom consists of mainly Caucasian boys and girls, ages 8 to 9. I teach 2nd grade. Our school is in a small, rural coal town that experiences poverty. Many families are mixed and many students live with other relatives. Giving my students the opportunity to begin their day with a "morning message" reels their attention in to me. They are ready to learn when you start with something that grabs their attention. Some of the children we see come through our doors only experience positivity and warmth at school, and I try to give them the best learning experience by keeping them engaged. When my students are close to me, they are more focused on learning and engaged in what's going on. Having this cart will give me that exact opportunity to be close to them.

My Project

This teacher cart gives me the opportunity to bring my students close together for engagement as we begin our day with our "morning meeting"! By donating to my project, you'll give my students the chance to be close to their teacher, and engaged with being able to participate in the lesson being presented. Our rural area experiences severe poverty very much and low income families. Being able to capture the students' attention and keep them focused is a struggle. I find keeping them close to me, keeps them engaged longer.
