My Students

I have not met them as of yet. Excited to meet them on Sept. 7th. Many if not all of my students come from economically disadvantaged neighborhoods and therefore qualify for free lunch. I want to my students to know that I will try my very best to provide what I can to make their year successful. There is no need to worry about coming to school unprepared.

I'm pretty sure I will meet some awesome and energetic 1st and 2nd graders.

My Project

The basic materials in my class will help me to prepare for my students coming into the 2016-2017 school year. I want to make sure every child has the opportunity to start the year with necessary supplies to have a successful start. I do not want any of my students to feel left out due to a parent being able to provide the necessary supplies to stay on task with our daily activities.

Below is a short list of the materials being requested for my classroom:

An area rug- to be used during read alouds and for sitting while in the library area

A library shelf where the books can be forward facing for easy access. The books will be rotated throughout the year

Headphone splitter- gives students the opportunity to hear a fluent reader other than myself along with practicing

Science Journals- gives students the opportunity to really explore the scientific method and to ask questions while drawing and notetaking
