My Project

I teach at a special school that focuses on English Language Learners. We have over a thousand students who come here from different countries to start a new life. Many of them come into difficult situations: parents are struggling, making rent is a priority, and they are often charged with caring for younger siblings.

Help give my students a head start with snacks and school supplies for the new year!

I find that having a closet filled with snacks serves as a motivator as well as a way to show that I care about how they are doing. Students feel rewarded and valued, and it shows in their work!

In addition, the students often come unprepared. Because of this, they feel embarrassed to ask for supplies from their peers. Having a ready source of supplies really contributes to a warm and inclusive classroom!
