Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are curious and inquisitive seventh and eighth graders at a Title 1 public school in West Michigan. I see each of them each day for Social Studies, and they are so passionate about learning about the world around them. We work every day to expand our worldview and our understanding of world history so that we can understand how our history impacts our lives today and in the future.

As a first-generation high-school and college graduate, I use stories from my own life and experiences to relate to my scholars.

The Kleenex will help us make sure we have enough tissues during the sniffly cold and flu season. One of their favorite things to do once their work is done is to read silently. I'd love to have Civil Rights Movement books on the shelves for the students to learn more about our history.

Our students are not always able to obtain their own school supplies, so have many options for them is a necessity. Each of our students need multiple pencils throughout the week, so having extra to supply them with is important. Being able to offer the students clip boards allow for us to move our class to different areas of the school or even outside! The White House Lego Set will be a great opportunity for our students to learn United States History when we talk about presidents!
