This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
An important element to a successful classroom is for it to be clean and organized. It also makes sense to have all of the tools that we need right from the beginning of the year.
A huge challenge at my school is receiving the supplies that we need due to it being in such a low income area of town.
My students are in Central Florida at a 100% Title 1 School.
They are imaginative second graders that have very bright futures ahead of them. Our school has an amazing principal and core teal. My students come from an area where, unfortunately, there are often more important things to take care of at times; instead of learning.
I KNOW that each child can learn. They just need to be given the proper tools to reach that success. They need a dedicated teacher and school team, they have this! They need a safe environment, we are working on that part. They need to be given the tools for success. That is where Donors Choose plays such a vital role.
My Project
My students will use their vocabulary journals to go in depth with learning the important words from our reading units, they will need privacy partitions for helping with focusing on testing and computer usage, they will use the incentive chart to learn how to set goals and track their accomplishments; they will use pom poms as erasers on dry erase markers, they will use the class mailboxes, stickers and library pockets to help in organization, and the rolling cart to help return library books to the media center.
The other materials are to assist me in planning, grading and setting up a welcoming and safe classroom for my students to grow in and feel comfortable in while learning.
This project will make a huge difference in the lives of my new students.
They need to know that many people believe in them. These kids have not been given much, yet they deserve to be given the world. It is going to be a fantastic school year for changing lives since that is my number one goal!
