Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are special because they are unique. My Pre-K bilingual students are raised in a low SES community. This is the community where I was raised, which is why I am teaching at this elementary school. I want to give back to our community, the community who saw me grow up and become the best teacher I can be.

Our school has been recently affected by Hurricane Harvey.

I lost all materials, including the materials parents had left in my classroom for their children. We are moving location and have to start all over. However, my students inspire me and I know we will be okay.

My Project

This material list includes everything my students need to enrich their minds. There are math resources that will help my students count and classify with number charts and counters. The list also includes literacy resources that will help my young learners recognize letters and letter sounds, such as sing-alongs and sentence strips. I also added puppets and a puppet theatre so my students can use after read alouds. These puppets will help my students recall story details! I also made sure to include resources in Spanish,such as magnetic letters and rhyming games, since my students are bilingual.

School will finally start in two weeks, yet I don't have any materials because Hurricane Harvey damaged everything I had set up in my classroom.

I also added furniture to my list, such as small sofas for the classroom library and bins for storage, because my classroom is empty. These materials will benefit my students' school lives because they will have manipulatives and all the necessary resources to improve their education.
