Our school is finally finished!!! We will be moving into our newly completed school since it was destroyed by Hurricane Rita in 2005. We have been in portable buildings for the last 2 years and are so excited to be able to get back into our school. We will be starting from scratch and only have the basic necessary supplies such as text books. All of our technology resources were destroyed in the storm and we are trying to restore the things we used to have for our students. In the technology driven society we live in today, students do very well when material is presented to them in an exciting, visual, and high tech environment. I teach all the high school math subjects in our small K-12 school and we do not have the ability to provide computers in each classroom. For those students who are advanced and need more challenging experiences and for those students who struggle with basic subject matter, the computer workstation can provide individualized instruction. We have so many wonderful software programs available, but do not have the computer hardware to put them into action. I would love to have a computer workstation in my classroom which includes: computer, desk, and chair. I would be able to provide my students with opportunities to enhance their learning experiences. They would get the much needed practice for their ACT, LEAP, and GEE tests. Also, those students who will be going on to college will be exposed to some of the same technology they will see in their future.
