Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is made up of over 75% of English Language Learners and offers many special education classes such as special day classes, PALS, and autism classes. Our school has Extended Transitional Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First through Fifth grade.

Despite having to live and learn during a pandemic, our students always step up and face each challenge with courage and determination.

This new school year will still have its challenges and we want to arm our students with the right tools to be ready to learn on campus, at home, and on their IPADs. No matter what the beginning of our school year will look like, our students will face it and conquer it!

My Project

The 2021-2022 school year will still start with many uncertainties but our students will once again step up to the challenge! With COVID still a very real and big threat, especially to our youngest students, we need to figure out a way to keep on learning but stay safe. These essential items will allow for our students to learn the fundamentals of writing and stay safe.

During the beginning of the school year, our youngest learners must learn initial writing skills and fine motor skills that will help them grow into independent and strong writers.

However, we are still living during a pandemic, which brings its own challenges. Under normal situations we would be taking that first month of school placing our hands over our students hands and helping them place their little digits into the correct position around their pencil. Now as teachers we still need to teach them that and teach them about proper social distancing. With a pencil grip, students will learn proper pencil hold and that will help them develop proper letter formation. During normal school years, each classroom is supplied with their own personal electric sharpener that students share. Individual sharpeners will allow for students to maintain beautifully sharpened pencils, workout those fine motor skill muscles, and maintain social distancing. The stylus will allow for students to write on their IPADs and continue practicing their writing skills, all while turning in their assignments and homework on their IPADs.
