My Students
We are a small suburban public school in the largest school district in the nation. My second graders are curious, inquisitive and full of energy! They come to school ready to learn each day. They are a fantastic group of learners.
Community support plays a vital part in enriching our educational program in the classroom.
I am amazed by my students' passion, curiosity, willingness to learn, thirst for knowledge, and perseverance. I want to encourage my students to be well educated, and to be the best people they can be for the world around us. Let's give them the tools to be lifelong learners!
My Project
At the beginning of each school year, I find myself buying a bulk of the supplies we need to start the school year as smoothly as possible.
It sets the right tone for my students to walk into the classroom on the first day of school knowing that their teacher is organized and ready for them.
I want my fresh crop of students to have everything they need in the beginning to ensure a smooth transition into the new school year. The class set of pencil pouches have made a huge difference in our classroom management because students do not have to get up and ask for a new pencil each time the one that they are using is gets dull.
We use the modeling clay for our project based learning in which students recreate the animals and famous national landforms that they research from our reading and science units. The baby wipes and gloves keep our hands and desks clean, and our sinks from getting clogged with residue from the clay.
This year, I'm including Time Magazine for Kids on my wishlist. I need my students to be well read and informed about the world around them. They are young, but old enough to know about current events and new technologies that can affect their lives in the future. The more they know, they more they can make informed decisions when they grow up.
My hope is to guide my students to be kind, creative, organized, well informed citizens of the world.
