My Students

I teach in a diverse school consisting of over 1400 5th and 6th grade students.

Due to current budget limitations our class sizes have increased to between 35 to 40 students with varying needs, but musical supplies to support the curriculum have not. My students are in desperate need of classroom instruments so we can not just talk about music but "start the music", as well.

My Project

Boomwhackers would allow students to reinforce their music literacy skills, both rhythmically and melodically, as well as improve their improvisation skills in a fun and economically efficient way. Diatonic scale Boomwhackers, along with music books and CDs, will also help foster teamwork, creativity and listening skills which are a valuable tool that can be applied to all aspects of life.

By supporting this project you will help ensure that students have a hands-on experience in class and the songbooks will allow the students to perform different genres of music.

The smiles on the students faces and sense of accomplishment will be priceless and something they will always remember.
