This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Standing up makes me think better!" I hear this comment quite often from one of my students! At times we all have trouble focusing. As adults we have learned ways to help us focus. Some of us wiggle our fingers, bounce our leg, or twist our hair. First graders have trouble channeling their energy.

I teach twenty three first grade students in San Jose, California.

My students attend a wonderful Title I school. Our school really tries to help each student to do their very best and learn everything possible. We are excited to try alternative seating for students that have trouble focusing.

My Project

I am requesting one standing desk and stool to help a student in my class who is very active and has trouble focusing. He currently stands a lot of the time. He stands and hunches over his desk. This standing desk will allow him to stand up straight and tall while he works. This will improve his ability to focus while working and help him to have better posture. I'm also requesting a stool to go with the desk because even though my student is wiggly, he does need to sit down at times.

Your help in funding this project will really help my student.

He will be able to stand while working, which he prefers. When he stands he is able to focus and use up some of his extra energy. This increased focus will help him to make strides in his learning and help him to learn.
